HINGENEERING Consulting was retained by a reputable client to conduct finite element analysis (FEA) of the secondary pipeline containment system in order to investigate the mechanical failure of the containment liner under internal pressure. 

The material of the containment pipe system is made of three layers of carbon fiber, outer polyurea and inner polyurea. The materials properties of the layers and material characterization test data were also provided by the client. The material models utilized to represent the provided material properties. Validation of the models was performed by simulating tests and compared with the experimental data when available.
